Book donations are accepted any time that the library is open. For small donations of 3 or fewer boxes, please pull up to the side door of the library and either call 830-221-4300 or knock on the door, and someone will assist you. For donations larger than 3 boxes, please call the library so a staff member can assist you at the Friends of the Library building.

Donations Acceptance Policy

– Books & Other Media –

The Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library, Inc. gladly accepts gently used books of all kinds, magazines, puzzles, maps, children's books, music CDs, VHS tapes, DVD and Blu-Ray movies. We are thankful to our patrons who donate to the Bookstore and Annual Book Sale and support our library through our sales of gently used books.

We have a hard-working group of volunteers who give tirelessly of their time and effort. The result from this dedication? We raise an average of $60,000 annually and pay for all of the programming that you love at our library. Your book donations make all of our efforts possible and are most appreciated.

We no longer accept the following:

  • Badly damaged books or magazines, with missing front or back covers, scribbling, mold, or water stains, torn or torn out pages
  • Used legal books
  • Encyclopedias
  • Physicians Desk Reference
  • Puzzles with missing pieces
  • Scratched Music CDs, Blu-Rays, DVD movies or any of these with missing covers
  • Broken VHS tapes, homemade DVDs or CDs or material that states "For Free Distribution" or "Not for Sale"

Thank you again for all of your support. Your book donations make a difference in the quality of life for the citizens of our community. The Friends turn your book donations into revenue to pay for the programming at the New Braunfels Public Library — from early childhood literacy initiatives like 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten to Summer Reading Programs for children, teens and adults; from Book Clubs to Gentle Pilates. Your donations and generous support help us fund these programs and many more. Thanks!
